Text sources and reuse

Sanskrit

The ancient Sanskrit text is in the public domain. Sacred Gita keeps its existing 701-verse numbering, including Arjuna's opening question as chapter 13, verse 1. Word separation restores Sanskrit forms for beginner practice; the combined verse preserves the received text.

What we changed

We added speaker labels, separated compounds into meaningful components, corrected selected word definitions and three full translations, and aligned each definition with its Sanskrit word. We also applied 39 copying, spelling or line-wrap repairs in the existing Sanskrit, including the missing Om at 17:23. Source chapter 13, verses 0–34, maps to app verses 1–35. These editorial adaptations use AI assistance, complete checks for coverage and alignment, and targeted review of meaning. They are a learning aid, not a certified scholarly edition.

The Sanskrit, its pronunciation, a word's literal meaning and a full verse translation serve different purposes. A compound's components help with study; their meanings do not always form a natural English or Hindi sentence when read in Sanskrit order.

Artwork and corrections

The paintings were generated for Sacred Gita and its associated teachings. They are separate from the licensed text edition; the text license does not grant rights to the artwork or the app's other assets.
